Hames Sharley has announced the appointment of Jorge Ortega as principal in the firm’s Perth studio.
Ortega was previoulsy senior associate at Architectus and design studio leader at the Melbourne School of Design. He has more than 20 years’ experience in delivering projects across Mexico, the UK, continental Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia, and Australia. He has worked as associate director at Bates Smart and Senior Associate at Hassell.
“We are proud to welcome Jorge to Hames Sharley and our leadership team,” said studio leader Brook McGowan. “His creativity and critical thinking to design will build on the success of our recent Perth projects.”
A statement from Hames Sharley said Ortega would bring a wealth of knowledge in delivering complex design tasks, and could helps to expand his team’s strategic thinking and communication skills thanks to his teaching experience.
“The statement ‘less but better’ by Dieter Rams succinctly articulates the design approach [that] I wholeheartedly subscribe to, [which] is fully aligned to the ‘do it better’ principle, the core foundation of Hames Sharley,” said Ortega.
