In an effort to provide vendor-neutral data for performance evaluation, new environmental product declarations (EPDs) have been released for metal building products, including primary rigid framing, secondary framing, and metal cladding for facades. Use of the EPDs will help building professionals accurately assess component performance and meet certification benchmarks for programs such as LEED v4.

The EPDs were released by the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) as part of a partnership with UL Environment and quantify the performance of metal building components using the cradle-to-gate measurement system. Cradle-to-gate evaluates the environmental impact of the entire production process from raw material extraction all the way until the product leaves the manufacturer. Learn more and download the EPDs at the UL Environment website.
