CIVIL ENGINEERING 365 ALL ABOUT CIVIL ENGINEERING

I did the field foundation layout plan for the Amtrak electrification between New Haven CT and Boston, MA. 180 miles and almost 15,000 foundations. The railroad miles were not a consistent 5280 feet. All layout was by stationing. Yeah, I made custom Excel number formats for calculating stationing, but it got all fucked up every mile.

I had to make it simple enough for the field guys to lay it out. That was tough.

Stationing sucks. Dont miss that shit. It’s one reason I went to estimating.
